By combining metal with wood, SMC2 is able to use each material for its intrinsic qualities to achieve structural and architectural optimisation.

WOOD AND STEEL
WOOD
The architectural quality and mechanical performance of wood enable its integration in various structures, with significant freedom in terms of shape and assembly :
- Density (fir/spruce) at 15% humidity: between 400 and 500kg/m3
- Common resistance to bending: 24-30Mpa
Laminated wood offers a number of technical advantages :
- Fire resistance
- Resistance to aggressive chemical atmospheres and weather
- Dimensional stability in spite of temperature variations
- Acoustic quality
- Seismic qualities
STEEL
Steel structures enable the production of elegant, streamlined constructions with discreet assembly systems. Metal frameworks are generally hot-galvanised, offering high quality corrosion protection.
